Background and contextual information
Under the Volunteering for Development grant, DFID, VSO country office Pakistan will contribute further to strengthening a civil society platform known as the PFDP under its current project1 by placing a national volunteer as a ‘Forum Strengthening Officer’, working in concurrence with the provincial coordinator at the provincial sub chapter PFDP. This intervention for year 1 will set forth work of VSO for the future and will identify key strategic relationships and ensure that the PFDP is a sustainable and empowered civil society space to take forward its mandate to prevent GBV and promote police reforms a matter of public priority agenda.
The role will continue to oversee the strengthening mechanisms in place for the PFDP at both the national and provincial level, to ensure that the governance systems in place established by the international forum strengthening adviser are sustainable. This placement will also carry forward the forum strengthening work carried out by the previous international volunteer and provide continuity to the process by ensuring consistent linkages with all members and the Secretariat, promote discussions and dialogue for a new Secretariat, to enhance its accountability and social inclusion and gender approaches and to monitor whether the PFDP has the capacity to take community led initiatives forward, this position will also review the PFDPs existing strength and coordination. In order to document the changes, case studies will also be developed to showcase the progress of governance enhancement of the PFDP and its members. This role will also ensure effective strategic relationships/partnerships with key stakeholders, the PFDP and propose identification of future interventions.
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinating and strategic partnerships
Building strong relations with Rozan colleagues and PFDP members in coordination with the provincial coordinator in Sindh.
Promoting organizational learning and knowledge sharing
To provide support partner in PFDP events and update and maintain database of PFDP contacts, profiles of PFDP national and provincial chapters and documents lesson learned.
To collaborate with VSO staff and volunteers in identifying areas and developing the capacity of partner and PFDP particularly in areas related to programme/operation, exclusion and gender, social accountability and resilience.
To act as focal point for linking the national chapter with provincial chapters of PFDP and continuously share updates and learning of one chapter with others.
Programme Planning & Reporting
To support in developing and implementing quarterly and monthly plans for the project and to ensure implementation of VSO strategies for Social inclusion and gender, social accountability and resilience in existing project.
To provide support to M&E officer in collection and analysis of data
Other Duties – Any other tasks assigned by line manager or VSO staff.

Required Skills and Experience
Master’s degree in social sciences
At least 2-3 years professional work experience, including experience of working with forums.
Ability to work as a team and build positive working relationships
Ability to coach and mentor colleagues and provide advisory services
Experience of implementing review processes/ change management processes
Problem solving and data entry skills
